Founder Joe Stevenson’s career in the music industry began as the lead singer, guitarist and primary songwriter for the alternative pop rock band, People Who Must. He extensively toured North America releasing 7 records between 1990 and 1999. From 2000-2007 Stevenson made a further evolution in his career, foraying into the highly challenging world of artist management where he worked with Patrick Blanchard, The Big Mighty and The Edison Project. In 2001, his diverse career also spanned broadcasting where he became host of specialty radio show The Radar (formally HomeGrown) on WCHZ 95 Rock in the summer of 2001, which he continued to host until 95 Rock’s format was changed in 2014.
In 2003, Joe was instrumental in creating The 12 Bands of Christmas Concert and CD Release that has turned into an Augusta tradition raising more than $500,000 for Programs, Outreach and Awareness directly impacting pediatric cancer patients and their families at The Children’s Hospital of Georgia in Augusta. In 2010, he helped create a 501(c)3 Non-Profit so 12Bands could be more efficient and focused in their fundraising efforts. He was appointed the Executive Director that same year and manages all aspects of the organization (fundraising and friend-raising, board recruitment and development, performers, performances and venues, volunteers – both musicians and general community) and serves as an effective leader and emissary for the mission of 12 Bands.
In 2005, Stevenson partnered with Andy Levine of Sixthman (an Atlanta-based music cruise ship company) to create Drive for Show, Rock Fore! Dough. This event benefits the First Tee of Augusta and is held during the week of the Masters Golf Tournament. Over the years, the event has featured platinum selling artists such as Darius Rucker, Zac Brown Band, Sam Hunt, Hootie and the Blowfish, Charles Kelley, Randy Houser, Collective Soul, The Goo Goo Dolls and more while gaining the distinction of attracting many current and emerging performing artists. This annual event has raised over $1,650,000 for The First Tee of Augusta youth golf Programs.
In 2007, Joe created Gluestick Music LLC – a music production company that focused on building large-scale concert events with non-profit organizations.
While building the new company, Joe continued to play public and private events as well as work on his songwriting craft. Several of his Christmas songs have been recorded and released by other artists including “Christmas Everywhere” recored by Niki Haris (Madonna). In 2014, Joe co-wrote “Possibilities” that was recorded and released by Darius Rucker as a special fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Over the years Joe has worked corporate clients from Florida to Washington DC, handling music related events to build awareness and raise money. In addition to Rock Fore! Dough, he also worked on Border Bash, Westobou Festival, MASH featuring Kid Rock, Banjo-B-Que, Rock By The Sea, Music for Memories and more – in the Augusta area alone.
Outside of Augusta, in 2015 & 2016, he was instrumental in bringing College Town Throwdown to 5 major college markets as well as a number of new events including the concerts at the Inaugural Blake Bortles Charity Golf Tournament with Kane Brown and Jon Pardi as well as the annual, Military Appreciation Day concert at TPC Sawgrass, which was held on the iconic 17th hole for the first time ever. He also helped produce the Avett Brothers concert the night before the annual Georgia – Florida game in Jacksonville, FL and closed out 2016 by closing down a Jacksonville downtown street for a New Year’s Eve Concert featuring Brother’s Osborne, Brett Young and Jordan Davis.
During the Pandemic, Joe hosted and performed on several fundraising streams including “Singing For Their Super” that raised money for local food banks across the country. This event that included performances by Charles Kelley of Lady A, Shawn Mullins, Patrick Davis, Scotty McCreery, Chris Barron of the Spin Doctors, Kristian Bush of Sugarland and more was televised in 50 Markets from Maine to Hawaii and raised over $1,000,000 in one night.
Throughout all of the event production, Joe continues to to perform as a working musician writing and performing solo as well as with his bands - The Llamas, People Who Must and Voice of Harold (R.E.M. Tribute with Mark Bryan of Hootie and the Blowfish)
