Augusta, Ga is and always has been a music city. From its earliest days as a vaudeville hub to more contemporary music mainstays such as Jessye Norman, Lady A, and the Godfather himself – James Brown - music has always been a foundational resource, that, when tapped, has changed the fortunes of the community time and time again.
Augusta Music Partners (AMP) was built on the idea that, when properly leveraged, music can be more than merely a lovely lyric or catchy chorus. It can become an economic driver and both a direct and indirect attractor for commerce. It can become part of a city’s brand and identity, directly impacting the quality of life.
The goal of AMP is to document, promote and, yes, amplify the music industry in the Greater Augusta area. Through careful curation of its musical past, focused support of current artists, venues, and other music-related businesses, and garnering real investment in its future, AMP’s goals are tied to cultivating musical success stories in the city, state and region.
Whether it is developing a historical record of the region’s musical past, living glossary of Augusta-area acts and venues, or developing working relationships with promoters, tours and artists, AMP is change powered by music.
